Park District Of Tinley Park Announces Park Improvements

Park District Board of Commissioners announce exciting improvements and additions to Buedingen Park and Commissioners Playground.

TINLEY PARK, Ill. – The Park District of Tinley Park announced today the completion of exciting improvements and additions to Buedingen Park and Commissioners Playground as part of its effort to continue providing quality opportunities to enrich and enhance the lives of the residents of Tinley Park.

The improvements to Buedingen Park and Commissioners Playground were due to the leadership of Park District Board of Commissioners Marie Ryan, Lisa O’Donovan, Don Cuba, Bernie O’Boyle and Ashley Rubino. Additionally, funding for the Buedingen Park Project was provided by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources through an OSLAD Grant.

“Our park improvements are part of the Board of Commissioners’ effort to deliver quality recreation programs for Tinley Park families while maintaining fiscal responsibility and protecting taxpayer dollars,” said Marie Ryan, Park Board President. “We hope all Tinley Park residents come out to see these new and improved parks!”

“These new parks aim to create a welcoming environment for families and individuals of all ages and build a stronger community,” said Lisa O’Donovan, Park Board Commissioner. “We invite all residents to visit Buedingen Park and Commissioners Playground to experience the new features firsthand.”

“These park enhancements are part of our commitment to fostering community engagement and promoting active lifestyles in our community,” said Don Cuba, Board Treasurer and Commissioner.

Buedingen Park is a 4.25-acre neighborhood park that now is fully ADA accessible with an updated baseball diamond, playground, relocated basketball court, expanded parking lot, renovated walking path throughout the park, and a new pickle ball court.

Commissioners Playground was previously one of the oldest playgrounds in the Park District and now has improved ADA access including a five-foot walkway around its border, second access connections to the west pathway, new bike rack, new benches and pads associated on both the north and south sides. The playground also has new components like music stations, a mom and me swing, and shade over its structures.
