Petition Asks D228 Board Member To Resign After 'Misogynistic Message'
Bremen High School District 228 board member Larry Canning is accused of sending a "misogynistic message."

OAK FOREST, IL - A petition has been started asking Bremen High School District 228 board member Larry Canning to resign. The petition accuses Canning of helping to create a society of bullying and references his behavior during a board meeting two months ago in which another man was arrested for an alleged altercation with him.
The Change.org petition was created by Jack Cascone, a recent Tinley Park High School alum who previously spoke against Canning during a public board meeting. It has garnered 72 signatures as of Tuesday afternoon.
“He has already shrouded the district in scandal,” Cascone wrote as part of the petition text. “Canning has employed behaviors that perpetuates a bullying society throughout the four district schools, the Bremen Township, and local elections.”

The petition also claims Canning sending a misogynistic message when addressing board president Deborah Stearns at a recent meeting.
“If it's okay for an elected Board member to not respect someone when he deems them ‘not a woman,’ what stops hundreds of males in the district schools from doing the same, or worse?” the petition reads.
