TINLEY PARK, IL — Pets, beer, tacos and art return to Soundgrowler Brewing Saturday, June 20, from noon to 5 p.m., bringing a new midsummer fantasy theme to one of the south suburbs' most popular pet-friendly markets.

The free, family-friendly event is expected to draw more than 50 artists, pet businesses, service providers and community organizations to the brewery at 8201 183rd St., Suite P.

Curated by John Streetz of the Streetz Artz Alliance, this year's market builds on the success of Soundgrowler's earlier pet markets while adding a layer of folklore, fantasy and midsummer solstice magic. Artists will set up both inside the brewery and throughout the outdoor beer garden, with the event going on rain or shine.

"Alex Kujawa, one of the artists in this event, recommended we spin this with a midsummer magic theme," Streetz said.

"When we checked with Soundgrowler, it was a go. So we moved the event from May into June and added some mystical forest energy elements to the lineup. Combining the magic of midsummer with the cuteness of pets should make this a brand-new recurring event we can enjoy at Soundgrowler for years to come."

Pet owners should plan ahead: due to health regulations, pets are only allowed in the outdoor beer garden, though service animals are welcome inside the brewery. Guests bringing pets will want to factor that into plans for food, drinks and restroom breaks.

The market also doubles as a resource fair for pet owners. P.A.W.S. Tinley Park, the independent no-kill shelter that has become a fixture at Soundgrowler's pet markets, will be on hand alongside Prairie State Veterinary Clinic, Compass Pet Sitting and DoodyCalls of Southwest Chicagoland. Smushy Moments Pet Photography will offer $35 outdoor portrait sessions throughout the day, including 10-minute sittings, digital images and accessories to complete a pup's look.

On the fantasy side, Art of Alex Kujawa — a longtime favorite among Streetz Artz Alliance attendees — is one of the artists who helped inspire this year's theme. Kujawa, whose work explores folklore, haunted gardens and legendary creatures, is promoting her latest release, "31 Supernatural Felines," alongside illustrated folklore books, original artwork, glow-in-the-dark prints and stickers. Other magical vendors include Crow & Moon Enchantments, Melanie Klegerman Fersko (author of "The Lost Book of Faerie Magic"), With Love Products and Geekbit Creations, which has been previewing new butterfly faerie ear cuffs ahead of the event.

Attendees looking for spiritual guidance can visit two tarot readers: Ten Cups Tarot inside the brewery and Adorable Oracle outdoors in the beer garden.

Pet-inspired art will also be everywhere. Cats, Crafts & Cooking, Libby McArthur Art, Splendid Scale Designs, Accents by Rosey, Jen Watson Art and MPN 3D — which has spent the week 3D-printing animal-themed creatures, fidget toys and collectibles — will join Topsy-Turvy Totems, ScarabSanctuary and Q's Wreaths and Gifts in offering pet-themed decor, accessories and gifts.

For pet owners looking to spoil their dogs and cats, the lineup includes Tonie's Treats, which turns spent brewing grains into dog biscuits, peanut butter and dog-friendly ice cream; Angels Freeze Dried Dog Treats; Bark BBQ; Rainey Dog Ranch and its sweet potato "Good Dog Fries"; Cat and the Kestrel; and Tinley Park-based Bosco's Marketplace, which is bringing "hygiene products and our amazing treats, freeze dried treats, bones, high-value chews and so much more," according to the business.

Admission is free, and all ages are welcome.
