Pistol In Purse Leads To Gun Charge After Tinley Traffic Stop: Cops
Police said the Chicago woman was packing without a concealed carry permit or FOID card. She was driving with one headlight and speeding.
TINLEY PARK, IL — A Chicago woman faces a felony weapons charge after police found a loaded pistol in her purse during a traffic stop, Tinley Park Police said Tuesday.
Tashawnda Goodman, 20, of Chicago, was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after police found a loaded handgun in her purse during a traffic stop Aug. 2 in the 16300 block of Harlem Avenue, police said.
Police stopped Goodman’s vehicle after they saw her speeding near 168th Street and Harlem Avenue with only one working headlight. During the ensuing conversation, the officer smelled burnt cannabis and witnessed Goodman suspiciously moving items from the purse on her lap, according to police.

He asked all four occupants to step out of the vehicle so he could search it, and found a .45 caliber pistol in Goodman’s purse with five rounds in the magazine.
Police said Goodman admitted she didn’t have a FOID card or a concealed carry permit, police said.

Goodman was arrested and charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, speeding, driving with one headlamp and driving without insurance. She appeared Aug. 3 at the Bridgeview Courthouse for a bond hearing. A passenger was cited for possession of cannabis.
