Registration Open Now For Tinley Park Citizens Fire Academy 2026

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park residents hoping to get an insiders' view and education on their local fire department have a unique opportunity.

The Tinley Park Fire Department will once again host its Citizens Fire Academy to teach residents what it’s like to be a firefighter. Topics will include fire suppression, fire prevention, operations, fire equipment, and CPR.

Classes for the eight-week course will be held on Mondays from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.., from Aug. 10 to Oct. 5, at 17355 68th Ct.. No class will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 7.

All applicants must be at least 21 years old, and attendance is mandatory for 75% of the classes in order to receive a completion certificate. All applicants must work or reside within the Village of Tinley Park, and the Village will conduct a background check on each applicant.

The class is limited to 25 participants. Register online. Application deadline is Thursday, April 30.
