Registration Opens For 2020 'Running 'o The Green' 8K

TINLEY PARK, IL — The annual "Running o' the Green" 8K race in Tinley Park is set for Sunday, March 1. Runners and walkers interested in participating can register online here or in person at the Tony Bettenhausen Rec Center, 8125 W. 171st St. That's where the race will start and finish on the morning of March 1.

Awards will be given to the top three runners in each age category and best overall male and female resident and non-resident. The runner with the most creative St. Patrick's Day attire will also receive a medal, as will the child under 10 years old who finds Lucky the Leprechaun.

Pre-registration is $22 and includes a unisex long sleeve tech race shirt, according to the Tinley Park - Park District. The fee without the shirt is $16. Pre-registration is open until 3 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 27.

Race day registration is $30 and opens at 7 a.m. on site.

The Running o' the Green is the first of the park district's three races in its "Walk/Run Series" that also includes the Stars & Stripes 5K on the Fourth of July and the Turkey Trot.
