Researchers Recruiting Teen Drivers that Live Near Tinley Park, IL
Teen Drivers needed for a study promoting text-free driving

Researchers at the Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago Injury Prevention & Research Center are recruiting teenagers that live near Tinley Park, IL for a research study to investigate a smartphone app that blocks text message notifications while the phone user is driving. Participants will use the app for 5-weeks over the summer, complete 2 surveys and participate in a focus group. Participants will receive up to $25 in gift cards as compensation. Eligible participants must:
- Be 16-19 years old
- Have a valid Illinois driver's license
- Have an Android smartphone
- Drive the same vehicle (1996 model or newer) 4-5 days per week (on average)
What will participants be asked to do?

- Meet briefly with a member of the research team in Tinley Park
- Use a smartphone app and Bluetooth device that blocks text message notifications while you drive for 5-weeks
- Answer survey questions about your driving habits and experience using the app
- Participate in a focus group about your experience using the app
Compensation:
Participants will receive up to $25 in Target, Chipotle, or Starbucks gift cards for participating in this study.

This study is Lure Children's IRB#2016-483, Feasibility Study of a Smartphone Application to Promote Text-Free Driving among Licensed Teenage Drivers, Victoria Salow. The content of this posting has been approved by the Lurie Children's IRB.
