Retail Theft Code Amended in Tinley Park

The threshold for a felony retail theft charge in Tinley Park is now $300.

TINLEY PARK, IL - The village of Tinley Park officially amended a section of the village code this week to redefine felony cases of retail theft.

The cutoff amount for a retail theft to be considered a felony in Tinley Park is now $300 rather than $150. Village trustees voted unanimously during their Monday meeting to make the change in order to fall in line with a change in the state’s version of retail theft offenses.

The ordinance that passed “allows the village to change from $150 to $300 a cutoff for felony and the village code will reflect $300 as the threshold,” Trustee T.J. Grady read during the meeting.
