Orland Township's Holiday Program Seeks Toy And Food Donations
Buy a toy for a child, adopt a family or donate special holidays foods to help make holidays brighter for local families facing hard times.

ORLAND TOWNSHIP, IL -- Orland Township has enacted its annual holiday giving program to make the holidays brighter for local families facing hard times. From now through Dec. 10, residents, businesses and organizations are encouraged to drop off donations or consider adopting a family for the holidays. Last year, the township's holiday giving program provided toys, clothing and food to 400 families in Orland Park, Orland Hills and Tinley Park, which comprise Orland Township.
"It's incredibly heartwarming to receive so many generous donations from so many caring township residents," Orland Township Supervisor Paul O'Grady said in a news release. "All the kindness from the individuals and organizations in our community led to the Holiday 2017 Program being Orland Township's most successful holiday program to date."
This year, Orland Township is offering an Adopt-A-Family and Giving Tree program. Stop by the township office to select a child or family to buy gifts for, or to drop off donations. Adopt-A-Family is a popular idea among churches, businesses, schools and social groups. Gifts should be brought in unwrapped, with the gift tag attached, to the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park, during regular business hours through Dec. 10. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Tuesday until 6 p.m.

During the month of December, the township office will also have extended hours from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 5 and Dec. 6; and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Dec. 8.
In addition, the township is replenishing the community food pantry with special holiday foods, such as canned yams, canned cranberries, dehydrated mashed potatoes and boxed stuffing mix. Gift cards to supermarkets where families can purchase meat for their holiday dinner are also requested. Visit the Orland Township website for the holiday toy and food wish list.
