CHICAGO (MT. GREENWOOD) — A Saint Xavier University women's basketball player caught fire from beyond the arc Wednesday night as the Cougars routed visiting Trinity Christian College. Maddie Welter, a senior from Buffalo Grove High School, hit a school record 10 three-point shots to account for all of her game-high 30 points in the 111-64 SXU win.

Welter's ten threes are the most of any player in NAIA Division II this season. Six of them came in the first quarter alone and the record-breaking shot with about six minutes to go in the game, according to SXU Sports Information.

The Cougars are ranked No. 10 in the NAIA Division II poll and have a perfect 17-0 record within their conference. They are 22-3 overall in Corry Irvin's first season as head coach.
