Seniors with Dementia Celebrate their Own During Nurses Week

Two residents at Porter Place, an Anthem Memory Care community were honored for their past careers as nurses.

Residents at Porter Place, an Anthem Memory Care community, showed their gratitude for all nurses during National Nurses Week including two residents at the community located at 17833 Harlem Ave., Tinley Park.

During the week, Porter Place honored former nurses Sandra Schaaf, an OB/GYN nurse, and Jean Lintner, an elder care nurse, with certificates. The residents also joined in the celebration by making nursing themed charm bracelets for the nurses on staff.

“Our seniors were delighted to show our nursing staff how much their love and care means to them, and they really enjoyed the celebration,” said Jennifer Boonstra, life engagement director for Porter Place. “It was an added bonus to honor the nursing careers of two of our special residents.”
