1 Killed In Tinley Park Car Crash On Oak Park Avenue

One person was killed and two others injured in a crash that shut down Oak Park Avenue for hours Tuesday morning.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- One person was killed and two others injured in the traffic crash on Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park early Tuesday morning. Tinley Park officials confirmed the fatality that occurred around 3:30 a.m. in the 17200 block of the thoroughfare later in the morning. Oak Park, between 171st and 173rd streets, has been reopened after it was closed for hours during a police investigation.

The fatal victim in the two-car crash was a passenger in one of the vehicles, according to a news release from the village of Tinley Park. The two drivers involved were both hospitalized with non life-threatening injuries.

“On behalf of the Village Board and the residents of Tinley Park, I’d like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family of the victim,” Tinley Park Mayor Jacob Vandenberg said in a statement.

Identifying information, including the age and gender of the deceased person, has not been released as of 10:30 a.m.
