Stroll the Lakefront and Support Together We Cope at Hunger Walk 2015
A 3.1-mile stroll along Lake Michigan on June 20 will support south suburban nonprofit Together We Cope.
Together We Cope is seeking community members to take a 3.1-mile walk along Chicago’s lakefront on June 20 at the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s 30th annual Hunger Walk.
“It’s a chance to enjoy a walk on a beautiful summer morning along Lake Michigan, and also an easy way to raise funds for Together We Cope,” said executive director Kathryn Straniero. The walk begins at Soldier Field at 8:30 a.m. and goes south for about 1.5 miles before looping back north and finishing at Soldier Field.
The agency will receive funds from GCFD for each participant who selects Together We Cope when registering online at chicagosfoodbank.org/hungerwalk.

“We hope those who walk for us will invite friends and family to join the walk, particularly since there’s no fee to participate,” Straniero said.
The event is also a fundraiser, with the GCFD providing up to $1,000 in matching funds if TWC can raise $5,000 from supporters on the Hunger Walk website. “This is a way everyone can support us and help us restock our pantry at an important time of year,” she said.
