Student with Knife Prompts Lockdown of Central Middle School

A hard lockdown was put in place while the knife was located.

Central Middle School in Tinley Park was placed on a hard lockdown briefly Wednesday afternoon after staff learned a student brought a knife to school.

The lockdown was issued around 2:20 p.m., and students were kept inside classrooms while staff and police investigated. Staff were able to locate and secure the pocketknife, and the lockdown was lifted at 2:50 p.m., said Principal Randy Fortin.

The lockdown was a precautionary measure to ensure all students were safe, Fortin said.
