"Take A Bite Out of Cancer" All Day Fundraiser To Benefit Cancer Support Center March 2

Culver's of Tinley Park, Orland Park, Homewood, Frankfort and Matteson To Provide 10% of sales to South Suburban Cancer Support Center

Five south suburban Culver’s restaurants will help “Take a Bite Out of Cancer” with an all-day fundraiser Wednesday, March 2, to benefit The Cancer Support Center. The participating locations - Tinley Park, Matteson, Homewood, Frankfort and Orland Park – will donate 10 percent of Wednesday’s sales to the south suburban-based organization.

The Cancer Support Center, which offers services to anyone living with cancer diagnosis as well as their loved ones, has offices in Homewood and Mokena. Founded in 1992, The Center was a solution for six women who believed cancer support was needed closer to where they lived. Their idea was a success, and The Center has since expanded with off-site support at three local hospitals. Associate Director of Grants and Special Projects, Amy Chmura, is excited to have local Culver’s involved.

“We’ve worked with Culver’s in the past, and it just seems like a good fit,” says Chmura. “Choosing these five restaurants to help represent our cause really brings the support close to home.”
The donation from Culver’s will help The Cancer Support Center continue to provide counseling, stress management, education and other programs, which are offered at no costs for all visitors. In the past year, The Center reached more than 4,500 individuals with more than 12,000 hours of programming.

Volunteers from The Cancer Support Center will be visiting each restaurant during the fundraiser to help run meals in the dining room, as well as offer more information about the organization.
“Our guests always show so much support for the community,” says Jack Rush, owner of all five restaurants involved. “Because of their donations we can ensure people who visit the center are getting the help they need during a tough time in their lives.”
