Tinley Park High School Junior Earns Spot in ILMEA All-District Choir

Sarah Anderson-Stewart is one of only 250 students chosen from over 2,500 who auditioned from Northeast Illinois.

Tinley Park High School junior Sarah Anderson-Stewart has been selected to join this year’s Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All-District Choir. She is one of only 250 students chosen from over 2,500 who auditioned from Northeast Illinois, showcasing her exceptional vocal talent.

Sarah’s selection followed a rigorous audition process where participants prepared and performed challenging musical pieces without accompaniment. “The process is intense,” Sarah said. “You’re evaluated on musicality, intonation, and accuracy. It’s all about demonstrating your skills independently.” Her outstanding performance secured her place in this prestigious choir.

Sarah’s love for singing began in middle school at Central Middle School, where her choir teacher introduced her to ILMEA’s junior programs. At Tinley Park High School, she has been an active choir member, serving as choir president for three consecutive years and earning recognition in ILMEA Honors Choir programs annually.

“Singing is about more than hitting the right notes,” Sarah shared. “It’s about connecting with people, expressing emotions through music, and building bonds with others who share the same passion.”

Sarah dreams of a future in music, with ambitions to perform on Broadway and follow in the footsteps of icons like Ella Fitzgerald and Samara Joy. “I want to use my gift to spread love and make an impact, whether through performing or teaching.”
The Tinley Park High School community is proud of Sarah’s achievement and looks forward to her future successes.
