Remembering Their Service: Tinley Park Holds Veterans Day Ceremony

The ceremony will take place Friday, Nov. 11 beginning at 10 a.m. at the 80th Avenue Metra station.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park will honor its veterans Friday, Nov. 11.

The Village will hold its ceremony at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at the Gen. Patrick E. Rea Veterans Plaza, 18001 80th Ave., in Tinley Park.

The program will be led by Master of Ceremonies Dr. William Douglas Rasmussen III, DC Chairman of the Veterans Commission. The Village will recognize Deacon Tim Keating, St. Alexander Church Chaplain, American Legion Post 615, with the Colonel David G. Seaman Volunteer Veterans Recognition Award.

Keating is a resident of Tinley Park and currently serves as chaplain for American Legion Post 615. He also serves as chaplain for American Legion District 8. Keating served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 to 1971, and has an extensive background in volunteering with organizations such as PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter). Keating was a site coordinator at St. Lawrence O’Toole in Matteson. Over 13 years, he recruited and organized close to 300 volunteers, providing overnight shelter, food, clothing and counseling to the shelter guests, the Village wrote in the program.

The ceremony will also include music from the Central Middle School Band, directed by Jason Freeland.
