On October 25, Tinley Park High School senior students enrolled in Advanced Placement and Honors French 4 enjoyed their day at the French Alliance in Chicago. Students received hands-on lessons on French cuisine, history, and culture. In the on-site kitchen, students prepared Quiche Lorraine, originating in the Grand Est region of France. They also enjoyed making Salade Niçoise dressing, as well as Pêche Melba for dessert. After enjoying their lunch while conversing with natives from France, students got a history lesson on the ceasefire that took place during World War I, followed by the viewing of the film Joyeux Noël. Senior Dinora Romo commented, “The field trip to the French Alliance was fun. When we arrived the hosts were very welcoming. Philippe, the field trip coordinator, was very engaging and explained to us the origins of the food we were making and the history of the film we saw. It deepened my appreciation for French culture.”
