Tinley Park Jewel Evacuated after Threat Found in Bathroom

The threat was discovered written in the restroom late Thursday afternoon.

A Jewel-Osco store in Tinley Park was reopened Thursday two hours after being evacuated following the discovery of a threat in a store bathroom.

Police searched the store, and found the threat to be not credible, said Pat Carr, Director of EMA and 911 Communications.

The threat—the content of which authorities are not disclosing—was found around 4:30 p.m. in the store at 17117 South Harlem Avenue.

“Management thought it was serious enough that they wanted to evacuate the store,” said Pat Carr, Director of EMA and 911 Communications.

Tinley Park police are interviewing management and employees. The main entrance is closed, and staff will remain outside the building for the time-being, Carr said.
