Tinley Woman Confronted Frankfort Man Over Wallet Stolen From Unlocked Car
The woman was told the man was trying to use her debit card after her wallet was stolen out of her car, police said.
A young woman from Tinley Park confronted an acquaintance she was told had tried to use her debit card after her wallet was stolen out of her unlocked car, police said.
The 20-year-old woman had left her wallet on the dashboard of her Ford Escape, and left the vehicle unlocked and parked in a driveway on Ballycastle Lane, police said.
The wallet was stolen off the dash of the unlocked car and the woman’s mother “immediately contacted Chase to cancel the bank debit card and credit card,” police said. “Chase personnel advised (the mother) that there was an attempt to use the debit card at the Chase bank in Frankfort Illinois, four minutes prior to her calling but no money was obtained.”

The young woman knew the man who was allegedly trying to use her debit card, police said, and she “went to Frankfort to accost (him) over the theft of her wallet.”
The woman “stated that the suspect was belligerent with her and she then contacted the Frankfort police,” according to a report.

“Prior to Frankfort police arrival at suspect’s house, victim advised the suspect made incriminating remarks in regards to her wallet being thrown (away) because the debit card would not work but would not say where it was thrown,” a Tinley Park police report said. “Upon arrival of Frankfort police, victim stated that when police asked him if he had the wallet he responded that he would not talk to them without a lawyer.”
