Train Strikes Person In Tinley Park

An outbound Metra train struck a person around 3:45 p.m. Thursday near 183rd Street in Tinley Park, stopping all trains on the Rock Island.

TINLEY PARK, IL — All inbound and outbound Metra trains are stopped on the Rock Island Line just before the Thursday evening rush hour after a train struck a person in Tinley Park. Outbound train No. 405 struck the person before it arrived at the Hickory Creek station near 183rd Street around 3:45 p.m., according to Sylvia Cooper, who handles media relations for Metra. An ambulance and police were still on the scene treating the pedestrian as of 4:15 p.m., Cooper said.

Information on the status of the person struck by the train was not immediately available. It is unknown, as of 4:15 p.m., if the person survived.
