Trinity Lutheran School 5th Graders complete the D.A.R.E. program

Trinity Lutheran School 5th graders celebrated their completion of the DARE Program. Officer Robert Shervino, winner of the IL DARE Officer of the Year in 2019, visited the classroom for the first semester to discuss many vital topics, with a huge focus on developing a positive relationship between the police and the students of the community.

The curriculum of the DARE program aligns with the Social Emotional Learning Standards and focuses on decision-making models, communication, resistance strategies, and identifying and working through stress. The children and Officer Shervino worked hard to grow these skills and had a blast while doing it. Thank you to the Village of Tinley Park, the Tinley Park Police Department, and to Officer Robert Shervino for showing investment in the children of the community and the promotion of vital social emotional education.
