Trustee Calls Process Behind Apartment Complex 'At Minimum, Improper'

Plans for The Reserve have been halted and will head back to Tinley Park's planning department.

Plans for a controversial low- and moderate-income apartment complex in Tinley Park will head back to the village’s Planning Department, the Plan Commission decided Thursday.

The Reserve, a 47-unit complex planned for 183rd and Oak Park Avenue, drew the ire of Tinley residents, hundreds of whom filed into an earlier village board meeting to express their discontent. The commission Thursday tabled its vote on the project.

At Thursday’s meeting, trustee Jacob Vandenberg called the exchange of 2,500 emails between village staff and developer Buckeye Community Hope Foundation “back-door maneuvering” and “at minimum, improper,” reports the Southtown.
