A Rottweiler found itself in dangerous waters Saturday morning, after slipping through ice on a retention pond in Tinley Park.
But she was one lucky pup.
Several people spotted the dog running loose near 183rd Street near 80th Avenue. But when they approached to catch it, she fled over a nearby berm, then skittering onto the icy pond, and falling through. A team of Tinley Park firefighters chopped and paddled their way out to the dog in a kayak, gently hauling her out of the water.
The dog is now recovering at Tinley Park PAWS. She’s ”a little scared still, but a sweet girl,” staff told Patch. They are working to locate her owners. If you have any information, contact them at (815) 464-7298.
