Tinley Park High School senior Mallory Fischer was one strike away from a perfect game Saturday, in an SSC matchup at Oak Forest Bowl.
Spectator Bill Griffin was there to watch the Bremen team, but as Fischer neared perfection, he “had to stay.”

“With each passing frame, more lanes stopped bowling to watch,” Griffin said. “The 10th frame: after each strike all of her competitors were chanting ‘that’s 1, get 2 more...that’s 2, get 1 more...’“
The crowd hushed as Fischer rolled her last ball, toppling every last pin.

“The applause from the crowds, the other teams, the genuine appreciation of the moment,” Griffin said. ”It was incredible.”
