I've had many people in my life I have considered mentors, but no one ever told me I would someday launch a website where the intro video's title screen has me with closed eyes and open mouth.

Some things, they just don't teach you in J-School.

Hi, I'm Paul and welcome to Patch. Naturally, your first question is, "What's Patch?"

Basically, Patch is what you want it to be. It's not just a newspaper, not just a community directory, not just a way to find volunteer opportunities or a place to post events.

Tinley Park Patch is an information hub for Tinley Park. We use state-of-the-art technology to hearken back to a time the local news was local. We don't pass off news from Chicago or Springfield as "local."

Heck, we don't even pass off news from Orland Park as "local" (they've got their own Patch).

Local means Tinley Park. Local means you.

Beyond our breaking and investigative news coverage, we have sports, columns (we're still on the hunt for a "mom columnist" and a few local teen writers – we pay), an exhaustive events calendar and business directory, plus places to publish announcements ranging from births to honor rolls. We're looking for some restaurant reviewers, too. We pay for those as well.
