Woman Found Sleeping In Car Charged With DUI: Tinley Park Police

A Bolingbrook woman accused of drunken driving was found asleep in her running car the night of July 7, Tinley Park police said.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A Bolingbrook woman faces a charge of felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol after police said they found her sleeping in her car July 7 in downtown Tinley Park.

Imelda Gonzalez, 44, was found asleep in her car after police were alerted to a gray 2009 Ford Escape driving erratically near 176th Street and 67th Court, police said. A car matching that description was spotted in the parking lot in the 17500 block of Oak Park Avenue, and Gonzalez was found sleeping inside as the engine ran, according to police reports.

When they woke her, she was confused as to where she was and had bloodshot eyes, police said. Inside her car, police said they also found a half-empty bottle of beer in the cup holder and marijuana paraphernalia.

Gonzales failed a field sobriety test and was arrested, according to officials.

Due to having a revoked driver’s license and prior DUI convictions, she was charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and felony aggravated revoked driver’s license.

Gonzalez was charged with possession of open alcohol in a vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and possession of cannabis.

She has an Aug. 24 court date at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
