Woman Hit By Car In Tinley Park; Man Charged With DUI
A 38-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle near 177th and Ridgeland Saturday afternoon. Police have charged the driver with a DUI.

TINLEY PARK, IL -- A Tinley Park man faces a DUI charge after police said he hit a woman with his car on Ridgeland Avenue Saturday afternoon. James L. Forster, of the 18100 block of Rita Road was charged with the DUI in connection to the incident that affected traffic on Ridgeland late Saturday afternoon, Tinley Park Police Chief Steve Neubauer said.
Neubauer said the victim is a 38-year-old woman. She is expected to survive.
The crash occurred at 17732 Ridgeland at 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, Neubauer said. Traffic was affected on Ridgeland in the area for some time after the crash.

Some who live in the area have described Ridgeland, between 177th and 183rd, as a bit of a "drag strip" as of late.
"I worry for my kid's and my neighbor's kid's safety all the time," said Tinley Park resident Mike Fitzgerald. "(There is a) need for a lower speed limit, sidewalks, or possibly speed bumps in order to ensure safety of residents."
