Woodman’s Markets Plans to Buy Land at 191st and Harlem
Wisconsin-based supermarket chain awarded bid to buy 72 acres of land owned by Lincoln-Way High School District 210.

TINLEY PARK, IL - Woodman’s Markets, a Janesville, Wisconsin-based supermarket chain has agreed to pay $4.5 million for 72 acres of property at 191st and Harlem - land currently owned by the Lincoln-Way High School District 210. The district agreed to award the bid for the land to Woodman’s since they were the only buyer that made an offer that fit the district’s criteria, according to the Daily Southtown.

Woodman’s describes itself as an “employee-owned” grocer that began as a produce stand in 1919.
The company has 16 locations in Wisconsin and Illinois, including stores in suburban Carpentersville, North Aurora and Rockford. There's also been one planned for Buffalo Grove.

LW210 originally planned to build Lincoln-Way North High School on the parcel at 191st and Harlem, but settled on a site one mile to the south in Frankfort.
The district also agreed to sell two properties in Manhattan which were also originally planned as sites for future schools.
