The veteran just wanted to shop at T.J. Maxx, police said.
A young woman taunted a veteran with racist slurs and may have keyed his pickup truck while he was shopping at the T.J. Maxx in Tinley Park, according to a police report.
The 32-year-old man told police he backed his 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 into a parking spot. As he was “exiting his vehicle a smaller SUV occupied by three white females … parked in a parallel spot … extremely close to his Dodge,” police said.
The man and the “driver of the SUV got into an argument over parking,” police said.

“The driver of the SUV began using racist slurs while continuing to argue with him while they both entered the store,” police said. The man “stated to the driver of the SUV that he was a military veteran, at which time she no longer continued the argument.”
The next morning, the man discovered “fresh scratch marks on his driver’s side door and the hood of his vehicle,” police said. He explained he would not have seen the scratches the night before “due to the lighting in the parking lot.”
