$60K Scam In Western Springs: Cops

In another case, a work van was stolen in a local neighborhood, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs police released their latest blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the latest reports:

Scam

  • A resident in the 1100 block of Longmeadow Lane told police Wednesday that he was scammed out of $60,000 in cryptocurrency over the internet.

Stolen van

  • A company work van was stolen between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Thursday in the 5800 block of Wolf Road, a residential area. The theft was reported two days later.

Retail theft

  • A 48-year-old Chicago woman was arrested Friday on a charge of retail theft. The theft occurred Sept. 20 at Walgreens, 2 N. La Grange Road, police said. The woman turned herself in

Drugs

  • A 23-year-old Harvey man was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at 55th Street and Wolf Road on charges of unlawful possession or transportation of marijuana and driving with a suspended registration.

Driving violations

  • A 32-year-old Glen Ellyn man was arrested about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Ogden Avenue and Wolf Road on charges of driving with a suspended license and driving with an expired license.

Alcohol

  • A student at Lyons Township High School's South Campus was cited last week on a charge of possession or consumption of alcohol.
