Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital welcomes first baby of 2015

Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital welcomed the first baby of 2015 at 1:13 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2. Baby boy Miles Brown was born to Kristin and Christopher Brown of Fox River Grove, Ill.

Miles weighs 7 pounds, 2 ounces and is 20 inches long. He was delivered through a water birth by certified nurse midwife Beth Helme-Smith. He is the couple’s first child.

Kristin Brown said she chose Adventist La Grange Memorial Hospital specifically because it is the only hospital with a Natural Birth Center attached to a hospital. She said she is happy with her decision to have a water birth.

“My water broke at 5:45 p.m., and being in the water really helped,” she said. “It was a great experience. We’re happy that we found the Natural Birth Center.”
