Western Springs Grocery Bagger Headed To State Stage

The local Mariano's employee will compete at the State Fair in Springfield.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A Western Springs grocery bagger is set to take her skills to a state stage.

Corina Cervantes, who works at the local Mariano's store, recently won the Mariano's chain's Bag-Off competition.

She is set to represent Mariano's on Monday at the first Illinois Best Bagger Competition during the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.

Competitors will be judged on speed, proper bag-building technique, weight distribution, style, attitude and appearance.

The state champion will receive $500 and a trip to Las Vegas to compete in the national contest.
