• Western Springs Theft Suspect Seemingly Helpful Man: Police (patch.com) — A 75-year-old woman shopping at Mariano's in Western Springs had her wallet stolen from her purse after a man offered to help her reach an item, police say. The thief allegedly tried to rack up $4,000 in credit card charges, which were declined. Surveillance footage did not clearly capture the suspect, and police are continuing to investigate.
   

• Ex-Western Springs GOP Lawmaker Endorses Pritzker (patch.com) — Former state Rep. Jim Durkin, a Republican from Western Springs, has endorsed Democratic Gov. JB Pritzker for a third term, breaking with his party's current nominee Darren Bailey. Durkin cites Bailey's positions on abortion, LGBTQ rights, and alignment with MAGA politics as reasons for his decision. He credits Pritzker with gun reforms, credit upgrades, and infrastructure investments.
