Another Western Springs Road Project This Summer
The village recently received notice from the state that the project can start.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs recently received notice that it can go ahead with the project to repave part of Central Avenue, the village announced Wednesday.
The project is expected to start this summer. It will be on Central between Burlington Avenue and 47th Street.
The state Department of Transportation informed the village that it has awarded the contract to the low bidder, Wauconda-based Berger Excavating.

The village said a detailed construction schedule is not available. But officials indicated the work may start as early as next month.
A public open house on the project is set for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the pavilion at Spring Rock Park. If the weather is bad, it will move to Village Hall.

It is unclear how the continuing strike by the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 may affect the project.
The village said earlier this month that the Wolf Road project in town would not start until the strike is resolved.
The union launched its strike against three major material producers, Lehigh Hanson, Vulcan Materials and Lafarge Holcim. The union represents operators of heavy equipment.
