WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – A group that has opposed President Donald Trump plans a demonstration later this month in Western Springs.

Indivisible West Suburban Chicago is organizing the "No Kings: Early Vote" event from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Tower Green, 914 Hillgrove Ave., in downtown Western Springs.

Organizers describe the event as a festive, nonpartisan gathering focused on voter participation in the Nov. 3 midterm election.

Unlike previous No Kings events, this one will not be a "honk-and-wave" protest, according to a news release. Instead, the event is intended to encourage everyone to vote early and to help attendees learn what they can do to encourage others to vote early.

"For more than a year, millions of people have come together to reject the idea that power belongs to kings, billionaires, or politicians who believe they are above the people and the law," Indivisible's statement said. "Now, we are taking the next step, turning people power into voter power by bringing our community together to make a plan to vote early and ensuring that every eligible voter understands their options for how to vote and has the opportunity to make their voices heard."

The event comes as early voting has already started in parts of the Chicago area. Early voting began Sept. 30 at two sites in downtown Chicago and is set to expand Oct. 19 to sites throughout the city and suburbs, according to the news release.

Early voting sites include Brookfield Village Hall, Lyons Village Hall, the Lyons Township office and the Stickney-Forest View Public Library.
