Attempted Burglary In Western Springs: Cops

In another case, a check was mailed in Western Springs and then cashed fraudulently, police said.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs police released their weekly blotter Tuesday. Here is information from the reports:

Attempted burglary

  • Someone attempted to burglarize a house while the owner was out of town between Nov. 9 and Nov. 16 in the 4900 block of Grand Avenue.

Forgery

  • A person in the 800 block of Burlington Avenue told police Nov. 14 that someone obtained a $320 check he had mailed and cashed it.

Theft

  • Someone stole a boy's unlocked bicycle Wednesday at Lyons Township High School's South Campus, 4900 Willow Springs Road. It was valued at $250.

  • A UPS package was opened and a necklace inside was stolen in the 5200 block of Ellington Avenue. The necklace was valued at $59. The theft was reported Friday.

Driving violations

  • A 57-year-old Brookfield man was arrested about 10 p.m. Nov. 13 at Ogden and Harvey avenues on charges of driving without a valid license and driving with an expired registration.
  • A 49-year-old Chicago man was arrested about 8 p.m. Thursday on charges of driving with no valid license, driving with an expired registration, driving an uninsured vehicle and driving with only one taillight.
