Bites Nearby: JC Georges, Serving Up Comfort Foods For Nearly 30 Years

Whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner, JC Georges at 181 Countryside Plaza in Countryside has a complete menu of classic comfort food.

Conveniently located near several shopping centers, JC Georges is a great place to kick-off a Saturday morning of errands or treat the family to some flapjacks after church on Sunday.

Since 1982, JC Georges has left its mark in the community. The survival of this genre of restaurant is a pretty simple equation: 1. Reasonably priced  2. No dress code (except for shirts & shoes) 3. Basic American fare—and, of course, the endless cup of coffee.

Service is friendly; however, if you go there during the weekend when it’s most crowded, it wouldn’t be unheard of to consistently flag down your server. As I observed the frantic pace of the servers, one thing I have to comment on is they are ultra attentive to the AARP crowd. I’ll have to assume, they’re probably the most loyal and regular of customers—and really, who doesn’t love Grandma?

The variety of foods they prepare daily boggles the mind. At any given moment the chefs can whip up Fish and Chips or an Apple Pancake... something for everyone and every craving.

Omelets and waffles are good and what you’d expect from a diner. JC Georges' strawberry compote for the pancakes is fresh, not from a can.

Looking at the food being carried to other tables, I noticed meatloaf with mashed potatoes and what looked to be the Greek chicken dinner. Stick-to-your-ribs kind of food—and plenty of it. Although not available every day, the lemon-rice soup is a favorite among regulars.

Separate from the main dining room, banquet space is available for private parties.
