Uncaged Art Exhibition- All Saints Western Springs

Uncaged Art Exhibition- All Saints Western Springs

Please join us for an extraordinary photo exhibit of Uncaged Art, shown here November 7-8 to help us remember the continuing struggle of our young migrant brothers and sisters and celebrate the resilience of their human spirit.

The Art shown represents the experiences, the hope, and the pride of children in detention at the Tornillo immigrant detention center in El Paso, Texas 2018-19.

We invite you to attend any and all of the following opportunities to see photos of the creations of these young people that escaped destruction when the center was being cleared:

  • Saturday, November 7, from 2-4 pm: a special viewing time for students and young people and their families
  • Saturday, November 7, from 5-7 pm: formal opening of the exhibit and reception with refreshments including a discussion with the Chicago diocese Rev. Canon Sandra Castillo, Chair of the Sanctuary Task Force of the Chicago Episcopal Diocese, who has ministered to detainees within the Texas Centers.
  • Sunday, November 8, from 11 am – 1:30 pm: following the 10 am mass, another opportunity to consider the impact of detainment and our opportunity to serve migration with dignity, as Bishop Paula has called us to do.

Free-will donations to support the Asylum Seekers Fund of the Chicago Episcopal Diocese will be gratefully received.
