Car 'Intrusions': Western Springs To Get Barriers
The village aims to protect pedestrians at its 35 annual community events.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs is set to get a $181,366 grant to protect pedestrians from "vehicle intrusions" at local events, the village said Tuesday.
With the money, the village plans to buy 16 anti-vehicle mobile barriers. The barriers will help secure the perimeter of special events, according to a Western Springs news release.
At the same time, the barriers will allow pedestrians unimpeded access and preserve the welcoming atmosphere of local gatherings, the village said.
