Holiday cheer encompassed the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange on Wednesday, December 13th when members of the Western Springs Music Club performed for a very receptive audience.
First up was Robert Harriman (violin) and Nancy Hagen (piano) who performed Beethoven’s “Romance in F” and then Frantisek Drdia’s “Souvenir.”
Next, Franz Strauss’s “Nocturno for Horn and Piano” was performed by Joan Bentley Hoffman (piano) and Paul Seeley on the French Horn.

Three lovely songs (Sehling’s “Good Night/Dobrou Noc – Pastorella”; Pasatieri’s “Alleluia”; and Sharon West and Joyce Tumea’s “My Christmas Memories") were sung by soprano Celeste Martino. Celeste was accompanied by Nola Gustafson (piano), Karin Ursin (flute), Roseanne Rosenthal (clarinet), and Robert Harriman (violin).
Nancy Hagen (piano) returned to perform Francis Poulenc’s "Improvisation #5 in C minor" and "Improvisation #8 in C major".

Francis Poulenc’s “Sonata for Clarinet in B Flat and Piano” was then performed by Rosanne Rosenthal (clarinet) and Ruti Abramavitch (piano).
The musical part of the program ended with Michael Surratt (organ), James Winfield (piano), and the WSMC Chorale leading the audience in a few Christmas carol favorites.
All then gathered to socialize and enjoy tea, coffee, and a bounty of delicious homemade cookies.
