Check Fraud Reported Twice On Same Western Springs Street: Cops
Checks amounted to more than $15,000, with thefts reported within a few days of each other, according to police reports.
WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs police released their latest blotter Monday. Here is information from the police reports:
- A resident in the 4200 block of Harvey Avenue told police Tuesday that someone cashed a check made payable to her in the amount of $3,000.
- A resident in the 4100 block of Harvey Avenue told police Friday that two fraudulent checks totaling $12,500 were paid out from his bank account.
- Four men stole tobacco products valued at $450 on Aug. 3 from the Mobil gas station at 55th Street and Wolf Road.
- Two people stole Amazon packages Aug. 9 from a front porch in the 4300 block of Woodland Avenue. The items were valued at $60.
- A woman told police that a bicycle belonging to her daughter was used without permission and vandalized Friday. It was unlocked in front of Oberweis Ice Cream and Dairy Store, 929 Burlington Ave. The bike was found around the corner from where it was left. A basket and make-up bag were stolen from the bike.
- A stop sign was damaged Aug. 5 at Ogden and Central avenues by a truck that did not stop.
