Classical Start to Holiday Season

Western Springs Music Club's December 2015 Program

The holiday season began in a classical way with talented performers from the Western Springs Music Club performing at the Village Baptist Church of Western Springs on December 9th. The performance included:

Lisa Goethe McGinn (flute) performing J.S. Bach’s “Toccata and Fugue in D Minor.”

Pianist Sid Samberg not only performed “Sarah’s Piece” – music that he composed at the age of 12 – but also pieces from Schumann and Chopin.

Soprano Melissa Adamson Raub sang three pieces from Robert Baksa and also Victor Herbert’s “If I were on Stage,” from Mlle. Modiste.

Pianist Joan Bentley Hoffman accompanied guest Paul Seeley on the French Horn playing Jean-Michel Damase’s “Berceuse for Horn and Piano, Op. 19,” and pieces from Charles Gounod and Charles Koechlin.

The performance ended with members and guests singing holiday songs accompanied by pianist Michael Surratt.
