I have noticed a lot of crafters in this and surrounding communities. I see crafter groups meeting in the newpapers/online/meetup.com. I belong to one knitting group that makes wonderful items that if I did not watch it being made I would swear came from an upscale store! With all that talent it is a shame that there is no venue to market these high quality items. Individuals like myself try flea markets, websites, amazon, etsy, ebay and even craigslist. Should we form a group/union or find someone to train us on marketing ideas? Would we need to meet face to face monthly or post pictures online? How do we keep track of our "group inventory" available?
If you look for "crochet" jobs I found companies looking for handmade items to sell to big name stores and I think why can't a group of us sell to big name store? Yes, our inventory would have to be larger but in a group maybe we could start with smaller stores. One selling point is these are all AMERICAN MADE! These are just thoughts I'm throwing out to the community and looking for a better way of selling what we enjoy doing. Any thoughts, or am I just blowing smoke?
