Swimming Pool Drains Broken, DUI near 55th and Gilbert: Police Blotter

Monday, April 29

DUI near 55th and Gilbert

George L. Zimmerman, 62, of the 1000 block of North Bridge Street in Yorkville, was arrested near 55th Street and Gilbert Avenue at about 1:40 a.m., police said. When an officer pulled him over for having a broken muffler, he said he noticed Zimmerman’s speech was impaired and his eyes were glassy. Zimmerman was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or more, illegal transportation of alcohol, and driving with a loud or defective muffler.

Sunday, April 28

Club swimming pool drains broken

Someone broke into the Western Springs Service Club Pool, 1300 Hillgrove Ave., and damaged several drain gates sometime between 4 p.m. on April 27 and 9 a.m. on April 28. There was no water in the pool at the time of the incident, according to police reports. Damages are estimated at $8,000. Editor's note: This item originally said that the pool emptied because of the broken drains. Patch regrets the error.

No valid license

Aurelio L. Hernandez, 23, of the 100 block of South Villa Avenue in Addison, was arrested near the intersection of Ogden and Woodland avenues at about 1 a.m., police said. An officer pulled him over after he noticed the light on his rear license plate was broken. Hernandez was charged with driving without a valid license and without a rear registration plate light.  

Saturday, April 25

Cell phone theft

Jessica M. Jimenez, 28, of the 4600 block of Vernon Avenue in Brookfield, was arrested and issued a local ordinance citation after police discovered she was involved in stealing a cell phone from the Gilbert Avenue Dominick’s on April 25, according to police reports. The phone was returned to the owner.

Suspended license

Saulo P. Cintron, 40, of the 1300 block of Modaff Road in Naperville, was arrested after police responded to a call of a suspicious vehicle parked near the 900 block of Hillgrove Avenue, according to police reports. Officers found him in control of the car while it was running. A records check showed he was driving with a suspended license, police said.

Friday, April 24

License, registration violations

Terrione L. Smith, 23, of the 6900 block of South Justine Avenue in Chicago was arrested near the intersection of Ogden and Grand avenues at about 1:50 p.m., police said. He was charged with speeding, driving without insurance, driving without a valid driver’s license and driving without valid registration.

Wednesday, April 22

Warrant arrest

Mickey L. Catheart, 39, of the 1200 block of Pearl Avenue in Glendale Heights, was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, driving with suspended registration and driving without insurance, police said. A registration check showed that Catheart was wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant in Du Page County.

Stolen calculator

A teenage boy was charged with possession of stolen property at Lyons Township High School South at approximately 2:40 p.m., police said, after he was found in possession of a stolen calculator. He was released to his parents and referred to juvenile court.
