Cop Accused Of Shooting Son For Refilling Vodka Bottle With Water
A longtime police officer in Indian Head Park shot his son multiple times during an argument over vodka, authorities allege.
INDIAN HEAD PARK, IL - A longtime police officer in west suburban Indian Head Park is accused of shooting his son over an argument that stemmed from the son apparently replacing his father's vodka with water. Raymond Leuser III, 48 faces an attempted murder charge from the incident at his home in Chicago's Clearing neighborhood.
Leuser has been an Indian Head Park police officer for 20 years and served as the interim police chief in the suburb on one occasion, according to a report from CBS-Chicago. The officer was off-duty at the time when he is accused of shooting his 22-year-old son in the leg, arm and stomach.
Prosecutors in Cook County court on Thursday said the domestic argument came after the son drank a bottle of vodka Leuser bought at a neighborhood 7-11 and replaced it with water, according to a WGN report. They say Leuser was scheduled to be at work but called in sick two days prior and instead went to the store to buy popcorn, pizza and vodka.
