WESTERN SPRINGS, IL – Western Springs says it's just fine if you don't mow in May. In fact, the village encourages it.

In a statement this week, the village promised to suspend enforcement during May of its rule requiring that grass be no higher than 8 inches.

The village said "No Mow May" is a conservation initiative to let grass grow to create habitat and forage for early-season pollinators and other wildlife.
