Family Loses Home to Fire, Brookfield Business Collecting Donations

Donations for the family can be dropped off at For The Birds in Brookfield.

A fire in Brookfield has left a family without a home or many basic necessities.

The family was out of town on June 25 when emergency personnel were called at 2:42 p.m. to the house fire in the 3300 block of Sunnyside Avenue, according to Brookfield police.

It was a “pretty significant fire,” that left the home boarded up, a police spokesman said. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Keith Brennan, owner of birding enthusiast shop For The Birds, said he is collecting donations for the family at his business, located at 9207 Broadway, Brookfield. Brennan said the family includes two boys, 14 and 8 years old, who may need to replace most of their possessions.

Brennan recommended donors consider giving gift cards for places like Target or Bed Bath and Beyond so the family can replace everyday items and household necessities that were burned.
