The Flowering Cherry Trees of Washington DC at Thomas Ford Library, Tuesday, March 8, 7pm

See the trees in all their glory with art historian Jeff Mishur

2012 marked the centennial of the gift of 3,020 flowering cherry trees from the city of Tokyo to the people of Washington, D.C. While timing a visit to the nation’s capital to view the trees in bloom can be tricky, on this night you will definitely see them in all their glory. Jeff Mishur, art historian, will present artists’ interpretations of this spectacular botanical show. This is a Pauline Kennedy Gardening Lecture. Thomas Ford Memorial Library, 800 Chestnut St., Western Springs, IL 60546. (708) 246-0520 fordlibrary.org/events
