Food Allergies Prove Moving Target for Western Springs D101

Homemade snacks won't be allowed in schools or at bake sales.

School nurses in Western Springs Elementary District 101 will create snack lists for students to bring into classrooms that won’t harm students who have food allergies.

But there are some concerns among the school board about restricting snack options and about the changing ingredients in some common snacks, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Homemade snacks won’t be allowed in schools or at bake sales, but prepackaged food will be used to fundraise instead.
